Engagement, and an Uninvited Visitor (婚約、そして押し掛け。 Konyaku, soshite Oshikake?) is the fourth episode of the In Another World With My Smartphone anime.

Plot

The episode begins with the Duke explaining to Touya his thoughts that the nobles of Belfast could be behind the poisoning of the King because they refused to ally with the Kingdom of Mismede. He then states that should the King die, the throne would pass to his daughter Princess Yumina and that the perpetrator would try to take advantage of her young age by either acting as an adviser or by marriage. The Duke then requests that Touya heal the King using his Recovery Spell.

When they arrive at the castle, they are met by Count Balsa, who informs the Duke that a suspect has been apprehended in connection to the attempted assassination, which surprises the Duke. When questioned on the suspect's identity, Count Balsa states that it is the ambassador of Mismede. Count Balsa is quickly admonished by the Duke when he suggests killing the ambassador, saying that his brother, the King, will decide the fate of the ambassador, but Balsa doesn't think it's a possibility. Touya makes Balsa [Slip] for being a jerk.

Arriving at the room where the King is resting, the Duke requests that Touya heal his brother quickly, which he does, much to the surprise of those present (Queen Yuel, Princess Yumina, General Leon & Charlotte). After the attempted assassination was foiled, the King wished to speak to the ambassador of Mismede (who was framed for the attempt on his life). The ambassador is Olga Strand, whom Touya had previously met after helping her younger sister. Touya decides to do some investigating to prove Olga's innocence. After investigating the incident scene with his Search Magic Touya discovers how the poisoning occurred.

Calling everyone in the room at the time of the poisoning to the untouched dining hall (with Balsa shocked to see that the king has recovered), he deducts that the culprit is one of them. Balsa claims that Olga is the poisoner, but Touya ignores him, as he knows that Balsa is lying. Touya then asks General Leon to taste test a bottle of wine to check for poison; he then pours it into the King's glass and asks Count Balsa to try it. Count Balsa gives himself away as the poisoner by refusing and then thinking that he has been poisoned; however, Touya reveals that he cleaned the poison out already, meaning that the wine is harmless. It turns out Balsa poisoned all the King's glasses to ensure Olga got blamed as a poisoner because he hates beast-men and did not want Belfast to form an alliance with Mismade. Touya uses [Slip] to make sure Balsa can't run. Yumina is clearly smitten with Touya's selflessness and courage.

The King personally thanks Touya for saving his life, but Touya nonchalantly admits that his visit to the Duke was more exciting than he expected. Princess Yumina then asks her parents for their permission to marry Touya (who she had fallen in love with), much to the others' surprise and shock (mostly Touya's). The King explains that Yumina's heterochronic eyes can see a person's character (which is why she likes Touya) and that despite being 12, royals typically settle on a partner by 15. Yumina wonders if Touya dislikes her, to which he quickly states that marriage is only an option in his country when men are 18 and women are 16. The King asks for Touya's age, which he gives as almost 16. It's decided Yumina would live with Touya for the next two years to get Touya to fall in love with her. If Yumina couldn't earn his affection in two years, they would stop trying with no ill will. Albeit reluctantly, Touya agrees to this arrangement (to Yumina's obvious delight).

Touya rests in a guest room, lamenting he couldn't wiggle out of the arrangement. He gets a call from God, who has been watching him. Touya asks God not to find his pain amusing, as he doesn't wish to think about marriage at his age. God tells him polygamy is typical in that world, so Touya can take on as many wives as he wants. God tells Touya he's rooting for him and wishes him happiness. Touya can only shout into his pillow at the situation.

Touya returned to the Silver Moon Inn (with Yumina in tow), explaining the situation to his companions and introducing them to Yumina as she lovingly hugs him (much to their surprise). Yae and Elze are exasperated, while Linze is horrified. Elze realizes the marriage means Touya will become the next King of the Kingdom of Belfast once the King steps down, though Yumina adds that should her parents conceive a child, it will be the next ruler instead.

After registering Yumina at the Adventurer Guild, they take up a quest to subjugate a pack of kineags in the southern forest. Along the way to their destination, Yumina explains to the others that despite her upbringing, she has been trained in archery and magic and is quite capable of both. To prove her point, she uses summoning magic (dark attribute magic) to summon a pack of wolves to draw out the target monsters; she then offers to teach Touya how to use summoning magic. Touya reflects on how the guild members stare at him in jealousy because of how cute Elze, Linze, and Yae are; they blush heavily.

After completing the request, Touya and Yumina return to the Silver Moon Inn, where she shows him how to summon while explaining that the summoned creature is entirely random. As Touya activates the summoning, a lot of magic is expelled, and a giant white tiger appears to answer the summoning. Yumina explains it is one of the Four Heavenly Beasts known as the White Monarch. Touya then asked him what the requirements for creating a contract with it were, with the White Monarch asking Touya to pour his magic into him to ascertain how powerful he was. He does as the White Monarch requests, causing him to pass out due to the amount that Touya released briefly. After the White Monarch recovers, he agrees to form a pact by asking Touya to grant him a name which he agrees to, and decides to call him Kohaku. After Kohaku agrees to his new name, he requests to remain with Touya, which he (Touya) agrees to though he voices his concern about walking around with a giant tiger in populated areas.

After briefly thinking about Kohaku changes his appearance to become a tiny tiger cub which surprises Touya though he (Touya) admits that it should work. Upon inspecting up close by picking him up, Yumina immediately snatches him away, hugging him extremely hard due to how cute he appeared. While he tries to get away from her, the other girls come out from the inn to find out what is happening, only to see Kohaku being hugged by Yumina. They then snatch him from each other as they try to hug him. Kohaku tries to ask Touya for help only to be told to try and endure it, much to his shock.

In the anime, this entire scene is removed.

  • In the LN, when Yumina is introduced to the other girls, she still wears her royal attire. She borrows a set of clothes from Elze and Linze because she would stand out too much should she wear her old clothes, and she also ties her hair into a braid, while in the anime, she is already wearing her new clothes when she meets the others and she doesn't tie her hair.
  • In the LN, Yumina is shown getting registered at the Guild, getting a bow and arrow set at the weapon shop, and choosing the type of quest, while in the anime, this scene is omitted.

  • In the LN, Kohaku releases an intimidating aura that scares both Yumina and her wolf, while in the anime, Yumina is only slightly scared and surprised by his presence.
  • In the English version, God jokes about Touya going to tell for marrying a 12-year-old girl; Touya returns the joke by asking God is the devil for finding his pain amusing.

  • This episode marks the first time the Kingdom of Mismede is mentioned.
  • Touya parodies the Super Sentai Series in this episode: after Yumina has joined the group, Touya says Akarenger's phrase "The five have assembled!" (5人揃って! Gonin sorotte!?), but his companions reply with confusion rather than the eponymous "Gorenger!"
  • This is the first known attempt at regicide that has been performed since Touya arrived in this world.
  • Count Balsa was the one who staged Sue's attempted kidnapping, but the anime never reveals this.
